Best Coffee Spot – Two Good Café
I always find myself back at Two Good Cafe in Darlinghurst. The coffee never fails, the barista, Kenny, knows what he is doing. If I’m there around lunch time, or any time of the day if I’m being honest… I’ll without a doubt grab their Chef of the Month sandwich or pastry!
Best place to take families or groups – Margaret
Margaret is the ultimate place for a group lunch or dinner. I especially love the homely feel that Neil and his team have created. I started my career cooking with Neil in 1990 and he is like family to me, so his venues hold a special place in my heart. I love how extensive the Margaret menu is. It makes it perfect for groups, as you can order lots of dishes so that everyone gets a taste of everything.
Where I go when I'm feeling fancy - Ester
When I’m in a fancy mood nothing beats Ester. Matt Lindsay never ceases to amaze me! He currently has a salt-baked whole Mud Crab served with chicken fat rice and condiments. You have to pre-order but it's worth it.
Favourite cheap and cheerful find – Cairo takeaway
On Enmore Road in Newtown, Cairo takeaway is not only great for cheap eats but for the people watching. Just opposite Enmore theatre, sitting outside is my favourite place to enjoy the mixed meat plate. The portions are generous, and the sides are great and it's BYO which is a bonus!
The restaurant I just keep going back to – 10 William
10 William St is a classic for me, and Gio always makes me feel so at home. I’ve been going since it opened in 2010. The staff know their wines and can always recommend a cracking bottle to pair with a pasta special.
The best place to take visitors to Sydney. - Icebergs
This is an obvious one, but Icebergs is my favourite place to take visitors. Maurice is an amazing restaurateur and what he has created is so special. Not only are those views incredible, Alex’s food is fantastic.
