Nourish Your Body

The food you nourish your body with is everything. From your energy, your mood, your health, to your personality, it all starts with what is on your plate. But each and every one of us is unique and it’s about learning which food groups work for you.

 

Food is fuel for exercise, but it is also essential for optimising performance in every area of life, including that most cherished of things, sleep!

The CBD is fast becoming a little HUB of health and wellness. 

with Elixr Health Club and the new Virgin Active Gym, but in terms of healthy nourishing wholefoods…….well really there’s only ONE stop and that is Kitchen by Mike. 

The health and wellness space is saturated, with seemingly conflicting nutritional information. 

We all know you need to eat right to feel right but with so many confusing trends out there nowadays we are a bit topsy turvy. We don’t know what to eat to get that real sense of wellbeing and energy in both body and soul.

Chia Seeds

Despite their tiny size. They are rather mighty. They are an excellent source of omega-3 fatty acids, rich in antioxidants, and they provide fiber, iron, and calcium!

At Kitchen by Mike I like to keep it REALLY SIMPLE

 EAT SEASONALLY

EAT LOCALLY & SUSTAINABLY

EAT WHOLE FOODS 

In other words – please don’t eat strawberries in mid winter….! Please don’t buy food that has flown half way across the world to be here! Please only eat meat that is humanely reared, grass-fed and finished, preferably organic! And PLEASE DON’T EAT PROCESSED FOOD!!!!!!

The bottom line is..

We, as a species, are not designed to be fuelled by processed sugar, energy drinks/bars and other essentially fake foods.

We need real, whole food (ie food that hasn’t been messed with) that is fresh, nourishing and nutrient dense.

Food for the Body = Food for the Soul

So

Love the food you eat, love your body and nourish your soul. Our bodies are vehicles, so you have to keep that engine running when you work out. That means fuelling up your body by eating the right foods and drinking the right fluids, in the right amounts at the right times. Sounds confusing, but we are here to make it simple. Focus on balancing your plate with fibre, healthy fat, and protein.  You can get your fibre from lots of vegetables; protein from sources like sustainably raised meats, organic eggs, nuts, and seeds; and healthy fats from sources like avocado oil, olives, and coconut oil.

All of which we can help with, with healthy lunch options in the CBD, healthy dinners in Sydney, Vegan Options and amazing fresh, seasonal, nutritious salads and meats.

And even if you have never set foot in a gym and don’t intend to any time soon, you still need the good stuff in your bod right?
