Plastic Free July
Let’s be Waste Warriors
As a global movement, Plastic Free July helps millions of people be part of the solution to plastic pollution so we can have cleaner streets, oceans, and beautiful communities. Choosing to reuse, recycle and refuse the constant influx of single-use plastic and close the loop on waste are all ways we can be responsible for our significant footprint.
At Kitchen By Mike, we are only a small part of the solution, and we are endeavouring to do everything we can to close the loop. Sustainable dining and being a waste free restaurant, is the ultimate aspiration.
Less is more.
Respect the produce,
the people and the community.
From everyday waste hacks to simple food swaps. At KBM it is essential for us ot be as holistic, wholesome and healthful as possible. Co
The plastic free July is an initiative where we are taking small steps to make a big difference. It’s easy to make new habits, find new alternatives that can collectively make a massive difference to communities.
“Think about it. Why would you make something that you’re going to use for a few minutes out of a material that’s basically going to last forever, and you’re just going to throw it away. What’s up with that?”
Jeb Berrier, Bag It movie
We are waste warriors at KBM and we are still working on what to do next. Our takeaway lunch boxes are made from sugar cane. We operate on a minimal waste cooking system, using any extra sourdough (of which there is rarely any) for breadcrumbs, and creating nutritious bone broth from all of the extra meat bones and we ensure that absolutely everything is recycled efficiently and effectively.
Minimising food waste is only a small start, but it’s a start nonetheless.
“Don’t waste electricity, don’t waste paper, don’t waste food- live the way you want to live, but just don’t waste.” - David Attenborough.
So I implore you, to join us as much as you possible can, to be plastic free this July. Pop by for a healthy, seasonal and local lunch with your lunch box and we can offer you 10% off. It’s the absolute least we can do.
